Richard Volding

From his own experience as a professional player, Richard Volding is very aware of how important mental factors are during a game of golf. Since 2014 Volding has become a Master PGA

professionals. The title of his Master thesisis "Golflehre zwischen pragmatischer und systematischer Denkweise".

Richard Volding is a professional golf player and qualified teacher. Born in Texas, he studied philosophy and education in Miami. After gaining a degree in the liberal arts he achieved his teaching certificate and went on to teach at high school in Miami.

However, his passion for golf eventually won the day and from 1989 to 1994 he played the mini tours in America, hoping to gain a tour card status. In 1994 he qualified as a golf teacher in the USA and one year later in Germany. Today he has PGA G1 status, which is the highest level a golf teacher can reach.

In 1995, Richard Volding came to Germany and began teaching at the Bergischland golf club, remaining there until 2001. Together as teacher with the club’s team he won the German championship, and was runner-up in the European championship in 1996.

Richard Volding took a year’s sabbatical to finish the academic studies he began in Florida, studying toward a master’s degree. Since 2002, his golfing home has been at the Leverkusen golf club.

In recent years, Richard Volding has also become very committed to the PGA, and is now a member of the committee of the PGA in his local state of NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia).

It goes without saying that Richard Volding also continues to be a successful player (and teaching professional):

  • 2014 Rang 13 Deutsche Meisterschaft Senior Teacher
  • 2012 German Senior Teaching Champion
  • 2011 Rang 7 Deutsche Meisterschaft Senior Teacher
  • 2010 German Senior Teaching Champion
  • 2009 German Senior Teaching Champion
  • 2007 and 2009 as a Playing Captain (2009) in the NRW Selection
